Capricorn Eagles show grit in T20I opener 

The Capricorn Eagles, Namibia’s national women’s cricket team, showcased determination in their Hong Kong Women’s T20I series opening match against Thailand yesterday morning. 

Although Thailand secured a victory by six wickets with 12 balls to spare, the Eagles demonstrated their growing potential on the international stage.

Namibia was put to bat first after Thailand won the toss. The Eagles’ opening pair, Skipper Wittmann and Edelle van Zyl, provided a solid start, setting a steady foundation for the innings. Namibia managed to post a total of 94/7 in their 20 overs.

On the bowling front, the Capricorn Eagles’ bowlers contributed to containing Thailand’s batting lineup with disciplined bowling. Though Thailand chased the target in 18 overs, the Eagles’ bowling attack displayed grit and determination, and Thailand had to earn every run.

Despite the loss, this match offered Namibia’s players invaluable experience, providing a crucial learning opportunity against a team like Thailand.

Looking ahead, the Capricorn Eagles will face China today at 03h30.
