OMUTHIYA – Three people died on the spot after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with an another vehicle at the Uuhama village in the Oshikoto region on Saturday.
Crime investigations coordinator in the region Titus Ekandjo said the accident occurred at around 21h21.
He said the victims, aged between 21 and 43, have been identified as residents of the Ongha and Onambango villages in the Ohangwena region.
“It is alleged that their white Chevrolet pick-up, with an Ondangwa registration number, was travelling from Omuthiya towards Ondangwa when it reportedly struck a donkey, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and, in the process, collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle, a silver Nissan X Trail with an Oshakati registration number,” he reported.
The driver of the Nissan, a 65-year-old Namibian male, as well as a nine-year-old boy from the Oshiyashomatope village, did not sustain any injuries.
A 60-year-old female from the same village fractured both arms.
The victims’ bodies were transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary.
Their next of kin are yet to be informed of their death. -Nampa
