WINDHOEK
– Learners from high schools  such as Eldorado, Augustineum, Ella Du Pless, Concordia and A.Shipena, were among those who gathered at the Habitat Research and Development (HRDC) on Saturday to learn more about science and technology and to plan for their future careers.

Among the high school learners who attended the career fair, known as Ritja and which has become an annual event, included learners from the Namibia College of Open Learning (Namcol). This year the Ritja Career Fair was hosted under the theme “Education in Science and Technology advance real world. Arise Youth. Arise Namibia”. “You will all agree with me that this given theme is very clear and don’t need any further interpretation. All the theme for this career fair spells out and emphasised the importance of education, not only for individuals but for Namibia as the country,” says the Governor of Khomas, Laura McLeod-Katjirua.

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Windhoek, Muesee Kazapua, seeing the large number of youths at the event, said it shows the high degree of importance youths can attach to education and development. “It gives us hope that our future will be in good hands,” he concluded.

This year the fair was sponsored by Erongo Red, Hollard Insurance, Namcol, MVA Fund, Parliament, Nampol, University of Namibia and the Polytechnic of Namibia.
