ONGWEDIVA – Oshakati Pharmacy in the Oshana Region is the sponsor of the popular Far Northern Volleyball League (FNVL) tourney after the medicine dispensers forked out N$15 000 for hosting the tourney.
The tourney, to be known as the Oshakati Pharmacy Far Northern Volleyball League kicks off at Oshakati’s Independence Stadium on Saturday.
FNVL Chairperson Paulus Mulunga admits this is the biggest sponsored tourney in that neck of the woods since the regional league’s inception four years ago. “This tourney is a symbol of great cooperation between Oshakati Pharmacy and FNVL.”
Oshakati Pharmacy’s owner, Piet Williams, urged other local companies to follow suit by sponsoring such events to uplift sports in the country, in particular the Oshana Region. Williams also encouraged his staff members to participate in sports.
Winners in both the men and ladies categories will each walk away with a floating trophy, gold medals and N$3 000 in hard cash with the runners-up set to receive silver medals and N$2 000 each.
Consolation prizes of N$600 and N$400 are at stake for the 3rd and 4th place finishers respectively. Would-be participants are requested to contact Anna-Maria Abraham at 081 333 1853. Entry fee is N$300 per team.
