WINDHOEK - The long-drawn-out court case between the Namibia National Teachers Union (Nantu) and government over remote teachers’ incentives will be heard in the Supreme Court on 2 April. 

WINDHOEK - The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) says a lack of forward planning and an inability to implement the new high school curriculum by the ministry of education are among the factors underlining the chaos that engulfed schools and learners at the start of the 2020 school year.

SWAKOPMUND - The low voter turnout that on Wednesday marred the Walvis Bay Urban by-election was attributed to fatigue, lack of voter education and timing of the voting day.

KEETMANSHOOP - The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) says voters have been yearning for social and political change.

WINDHOEK – The Teachers’ Union of Namibia (TUN) says most teachers are not qualified nor prepared to teach the new revised national curriculum that the government started implementing five years ago.

WALVIS BAY – Confusion reigned yesterday at Walvis Bay where some residents had to be turned away from polling stations as they were not eligible to vote in the local by-election. Some were under the impression that voting was open to everyone. 

GOBABIS – The Gobabis constituency by-election got off to a very slow start yesterday morning. The constituency had eight fixed and 19 mobile polling stations.

ONGWEDIVA - Some schools in the Oshana Region are faced with multiple challenges, including overcrowded classrooms, which have seen up to 55 learners in one class. 

KEETMANSHOOP - There was no major hiccups as voting in the Keetmanshoop Urban by-election went relatively smoothly at all polling stations.

WINDHOEK - The Popular Democratic Movement Youth League (PDMYL) has promised to fight for the many prospective students who performed exceptionally well in Grade 12 during 2019 final exams and qualify for tertiary education, but are unable to afford the high registration fees required by local universities.
