Climate Prediction Centre forecasts a drier February

WINDHOEK - The Climate Prediction Centre’s Africa Hazards Outlook report for January paints a disturbingly dry picture of Namibia for February. The report states that the season’s rainfall to date remains less than a quarter of normal, suggesting  drought conditions are likely to strengthen for many regions in southern Africa.

Investors keen to set up charcoal plant to add value to “black gold”

Drought aid programme launches

WINDHOEK - Sixteen down and out farmers from Keetmanshoop, Grunau, Koes, Bethanie, Karasburg and Aroab in the South could not hide their relief and joy last Friday when the  lorry of Corrie Korf from Mariental arrived back from the Grootfontein area with a precious first load of 950 bales of lucerne and 100 bags of lucerne pills.

AfDB to release African economic outlook this week

WINDHOEK - The African Development Bank is expected to present the 2019 edition of its flagship African Economic Outlook (AEO) report on the sidelines of the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday, February 8, 2019. The African Economic Outlook 2019 will be available in English, French and Portuguese.

US ambassador inspires young women

WINDHOEK - The Ambassador of the United States of America to Namibia, Lisa Johnson recently inspired young women to realise their full potential through the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (Dreams) project, an evidence-based programme intended to reduce new HIV infections among teens and young women.
