WINDHOEK- Namibian retailers and food outlets relying on imported prime meat cuts from South Africa are feeling the pinch of the ban on meat exports to neighbouring countries due to the outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) earlier this month in South Africa.

WINDHOEK – An ugly spat between a local company, Khomas Civil Construction (KCC), and an Italian company called the Enertronica Group (EG), is brewing as accusations and counter-accusations are being thrown about by the two entities. EG, last year erected a five-Megawatt solar power plant in the Erongo Region for which it employed KCC to complete specific construction work. 

WALVIS BAY - A group of tourists who recently visited Walvis Bay on a day-trip were in awe of the coastal town’s beauty during the tourism activities they undertook last week before their departure.

WINDHOEK - Although there was criticism about Operation Hornkranz from some quarters, the joint police/army operation has been welcomed by a significant number of citizens as an initiative worth maintaining, said Namibian Police Force Deputy Inspector-General for Operations Oscar Peter Embubulu.

KHORIXAS - Juliane /Uxams, the regional facilitator in Kunene for the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN), has entered into agreements with several municipalities, village councils and town councils for SDFN to build over one hundred low-cost houses in Kunene Region.

WINDHOEK - The tax refund scam trial that was supposed to have started yesterday was postponed to today after Acting High Court Judge Kobus Miller was informed that several issues including legal representation for some of the accused still need resolving. 

RUNDU - The police in Kavango West are investigating a case whereby a 19-year-old man was bumped along the Rundu-Nkurenkuru B10 main road. The unknown driver failed to report the accident nor render any assistance to the injured victim as is required by law.

SWAKOPMUND - Fishing right applicants will have to wait for at least three more months before the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources announce the list of successful candidates.

OSHAKATI – A 38-year-old man convicted of dealing in cannabis, illegal entry into Namibia through undesignated point and money laundering has pleaded with the Oshakati Regional Court to issue him with a fine.
