Newly appointed defence minister Frans Kapofi has dismissed talks that he is among those in the governing party considered as President Hage Geingob’s successor, saying he does not have any ambitions for Swapo’s top leadership position.

Siblings Azaan Madisia and Steven Junior Mulundu, accused of the brutal murder of Shannon Wasserfall last year, will return to court on Monday.

Oshakati High Court Judge Johanna Salionga rejected a plea of self-defence by a man accused of murdering his drinking buddy and convicted him of murder with direct intent. The judge further said that while the deceased was the initial aggressor, at the time of the stabbing, he had removed the knife from the deceased and was thus no longer in imminent danger.
