The Meat Board of Namibia has opened up applications for the production and export of the lucrative Norwegian beef quota.

Various players in the agriculture sector will today convene in Windhoek for a large-scale agriculture conference aimed at creating a platform for the exchange of ideas on how to maximize the potential of the agricultural sector.

Namibia’s sheep export market appears to be struggling, as the total export to South Africa – the country’s largest sheep export market – decreases significantly.

The export of weaners to South Africa has decreased significantly, despite the country being Namibia’s main export markets for livestock.

Ministry of agriculture Executive Director Percy Misika says the commercial commencement of slaughtering of livestock at the Katima Mulilo abattoir will enable cattle farmers to sell their cattle to the abattoir.

OMUTHIYA – Oshikoto education director Aletta Eises says the authorities have taken into consideration the safety of learners and teachers at King Kauluma Combined School, which will see police officers embarking on a de-mining operation of the entire school premises. 

More than 500 learners at Omundudu Combined School, who were withdrawn by their unhappy parents pending investigations and a hearing into the alleged misconduct involving two senior staff, have since returned to school.
