Miss High School North auditions on September 1

WINDHOEK – The first audition of this year’s Miss High School North will be held at Gwashamba Mall in Ondangwa, Oshana Region on September 1, with the main event scheduled for December 19 at the Ekamuti Lodge in the northern part of the country. The auditions start at 09h00.

Namibian charcoal exports could increase to 200 000 tonnes by 2020

WINDHOEK - Charcoal production is an important activity for managing bush encroachment in Namibia. With an estimated 160 000 tonnes of export volume in 2016, Namibia is currently ranked as the fifth largest exporter of wood charcoal in the world, which also makes it the largest exporter of charcoal in the Southern African region.

Namibia ranked 4th in SADC in terms of financial inclusion

WINDHOEK - The latest results from the Namibia Financial Inclusion Survey (NFIS) indicate that the country’s banking population increased to 67.9 percent in 2017, up from 45 percent in 2011. In addition, the majority of the eligible banking population, 64.7 percent, said they consider Automated Teller Machines the most comfortable banking channel followed by bank branches at just over 58 percent.

Case of slayer of ex-girlfriend postponed

WINDHOEK - The Katutura Magistrate’s Court has postponed to October 16 the case of a man who stands accused of killing his ex-lover and attempting suicide, to allow room for the police to complete their investigations into the crime.
