This is a rejoinder to an opinion piece that was published by Professor Andree-Jeanne Totemeyer in the Sun newspaper on 20th December 2023 under the same heading.

“Cdes and friends, I just received a sad message from Sister Lovona in the UK that Bro Berrenga passed on in Gambia on Saturday. He will be buried in Gambia as per his wish. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Regards Rihu,” came the message on a Thursday, 10 October 2019 at 12:57:02 CAT (Namibian time) to many of us from Rihupisa Kandando.

If we look at the potential carriers of development in Namibia we have difficulties to see any:

As 2023 draws to a close and with much anticipation, we herald 2024, as descendants of the great warriors of the anti-colonial resistances against German penetration and occupation of our ancestral land, then known by the imperialists and their accomplices and allies as German South West Africa, we cannot but pause and seriously reflect on the year that has been.
