Good day, good people! Welcome again to another deposit of the weekly takeaway.

The expelled Namibia Premier League (NPL) continues to fire missiles from both ends of the battlefield, as the league at one end is engaged in protracted talks with the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) over a licence to go fully professional and at the other end, it is busy bolstering its case filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) against the Namibia Football Association (NFA).

The entire Otjiwarongo community and the nation at large are battling in utter shock, devastation and disbelief digesting the sad news about the untimely death of one of the most recognizable figures from that neck of the woods, Joseph Kuhanga, also going by his clan name Kaseehunde “Seadog”.

With very keen interest, I have been following the dialogue between sports minister Agnes Tjongarero and Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura and what has particularly grabbed my attention is Fifa’s unfathomable old-fashioned and equally worrisome one-way style of dialogue. 

The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) in collaboration with Trustco Group Holdings will this weekend host another exciting junior tournament at various venues across the capital, with matches starting today until tomorrow

The MTC HopSol Youth Soccer League will continue this weekend with action from a raft of mouth-watering fixtures lined up for the various age categories.

Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura on Tuesday wrote back to the country’s sport minister Agnes Tjongarero, again reiterating the world football governing body’s strong stance that it will not accept a breakaway league in Namibia and nor shall it entertain any undue influence or decisions taken by third parties not elected or appointed by the NFA.

Namibia’s Brave Warriors have been pitted against neighbours Zambia, Tanzania and Guinea in Group D of the 6th edition of the African Nations Championship (Chan), slated for Cameroon early next year.

Most memorable race? Last Saturday’s race in Kenya at the Kip Keino Classic, where I won the 400m race.
