KEETMANSHOOP – !Nami#Nus constituency councillor Susan Ndjaleka said her office is making optimum use of the Constituency Development Committee (CDC) to advance their development agenda.
“CDC members, which consist of the private-and-public sectors, are very much involved in all programmes planned towards stimulating development in Lűderitz, Aus and surrounding rural areas. I can only compliment their active existence,” she told this publication recently.
She added: “My office also has strategic relationships with important stakeholders in the constituency, who heavily contributed to driving the local economy. It, amongst others, include the //Kharas regional council, local fishing and mining companies, Lüderitz town council, offices/agencies/ministries as well as other prominent members of the private and public sectors”.
Ndjaleka said the completed small-and-medium enterprises’ (SME) stalls will be handed over to the identified beneficiaries in due course.
She made reference to the renovation of the Lüderitz State clinic with the assistance of the local Bourbon oil company as some of the strides made.
In addition, she highlighted the establishment of a podcast facility to enhance information-sharing for residents in which the youth ministry was instrumental.
“I can further report with confidence that the water supply challenge to residents at the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia will be something of the past very soon. Logistical Supply Services of one of our oil companies and the town council are assisting us in this regard,” Ndjaleka noted.
Construction at the new !Nami#Nus Primary School is now at phase 2 after the education ministry provided funds to build a security fence, ablution blocks and office block.
“There are already-constructed classrooms. More will be added as funds become available. Our vision is that it should be a Combined school accommodating grade 1-11 learners. We are in the process of absorbing the oversupply of learners from other schools,” Ndjaleka said.
The establishment of a resource school in future will cater to learners with special needs.
The groundbreaking for the project was already done.
Ndjaleka’s office is now lobbying for funding to construct the school.
“Allow me at this juncture to express my heartfelt gratitude towards all CDC members as well as public and private stakeholders for always coming on board when we knock on their doors for assistance in kind. This demonstrates that, if we hold hands, we can improve the living conditions of our residents,” she remarked.
