Cell One’s Chief Executive Officer Lars Christian Iuel has been reassigned to South East Asia.
The mobile company announced this week that Iuel would take up the opportunity to pursue new challenges at Telenor in an executive position in South East Asia.
Cell One Board of Directors have appointed Frode Haugen as CEO with effect from March 1, 2008. Haugen has 27 years’ industry experience and has international exposure both in Europe, Africa and South East Asia working as a top executive.
Iuel joined Cell One on October 1, 2006 as Chief Marketing Officer and was appointed CEO on March 27 last year.
Cell One Corporate Communications Manager Rejoice Itembu said in a statement that during Iuel’s time, the company has launched both Prepaid and Postpaid services in the market.
“I would like to thank Cell One employees, the Namibian people, the Government of Namibia, the NCC, the shareholders and the Board of Directors for making my time at Cell One rewarding and worthwhile.
“Namibia is such a beautiful country and I will certainly be back either on business or as a visitor to enjoy the beautiful weather and to be in the company of such good people,” Iuel said.
Board Chairman Gerson Narib commended Iuel for making a significant and valuable contribution to Cell One and Namibia and that his efforts were well recognised.
“ICT is a fast growing industry with new opportunities and I wish Iuel all the success in his new endeavours,” said Narib.
