Windhoek

De Duine Secondary School and Windhoek Gymnasium delivered stellar performances in the Under-17 and Under-19 leagues during last weekend’s Bank Windhoek Schools Netball Super League matches.
Last year’s champions in the U/17 Division-B, De Duine Secondary School, won their first game of the day by beating Elnatan Private School 32-11. The girls from Walvis Bay then went on to defeat Tsumeb Gymnasium 38-9 and MK Gertze 28-11.

The cheering fans certainly had a positive effect on their performance. The school, however, struggled to make the same impression in the U/19 league, winning their match against Pro-Ed Academy by a narrow margin of 40-39 and achieving a 19-19 draw against Concordia College.

Defending champions in both leagues, Windhoek Gymnasium, continue to be one of the leading teams in both leagues, winning all their matches with huge margins, except one match which they won after Agri-College pulled out due to injury issues.

In the U/17 league, the team defeated Dr Lemmer High School 35-2 and Tsumeb Gymnasium 39-23. The defending champions also scored a victory in the U/19 league when they defeated Elnatan Private School 51-32.

Tsumeb Gymnasium was also a big winner, winning all their matches in the U/19 league. The girls from the copper town defeated Otjiwarongo Secondary School 35-15. They continued their success in Windhoek on Saturday, beating Windhoek High School 39-21 and Mokganedi Thlabanello High School with an impressive score line of 44-27.

The next games will be played in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Otjiwarongo and Windhoek on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.
