In a determined effort to return to the Premier League, Chief Santos is on the lookout for a new head coach to lead the team in their quest for top-tier football.
The ideal candidate must hold a Caf B, C or D coaching licence.
The club aims to strengthen its technical team, and improve its performance in the First Division.
Founded in 1969, the club has not only focused on its professional football team, but also recently broadened its horizons by investing in grassroots football development.
Chief Santos is now committed to nurturing young talent in the community, offering football programmes for boys and girls aged seven to 18.
In addition, the club is making strides towards the creation of a Women’s League, further expanding its reach within the football community.
The chairman of the club, Lilongeni Geiseb, revealed that former professional footballer Warren Neidel had assisted the team in the first half of the season.
However, with a view to further strengthen the club, the executive committee seeks to bolster the technical team.
This comes on the back of a new sponsorship deal that is set to be announced at the end of the month.
The agreement, worth a significant sum, is with Consolidated Copper Corp, the acquired owners of Tschudi Mine.
It has brought a new wave of financial support to the club.
Geiseb spoke about the challenges of running a football club without sufficient financial backing.
He expressed optimism about the new sponsorship deal, which is expected to provide much-needed stability and resources.
He emphasised that revitalising the club and striving for a return to the Premier League will not only elevate the status of Chief Santos, but also benefit Tsumeb, drawing football fans back to the stadium.
Currently, Chief Santos sits in sixth place on the First Division log, having accumulated five points from three matches.
The log is currently led by KK United, who have nine points from three matches.
Despite this, Santos is hopeful for an improved showing in the second half of the season.
In preparation for the upcoming transfer window, the club has already made notable signings, including Roger Katjiteo, a former Brave Warriors player, and Hassan Dausab from Kaltes Wasser.
Santos is also in talks to secure the services of other high-profile players such as Question Howaeb, Brendon Neibeb and Wilfred Xamiseb – all former Orlando Pirates players.
In total, the club has signed seven new players, including talent from professional teams as well as from local academies like Gerros Football Academy and Benfica.
The rest of the Chief Santos’ executive members include:
Willem Ouseb (vice chairperson), Fernanda Diniz (logistics and catering), Mike Heita (treasurer and team manager), Giel Neidel (supporters’ club chairman), Elton Howoseb (supporters’ club secretary general), Max Johnson (technical director: Academy), Godfried Hailonga (technical director: first team) and Antonio da Gama (academy coach).
