Chief of the Shambyu Traditional Authority, Matumbo Ribebe, still wants the ‘women-stripping’ traditional healer Sifuniso Linus Sitwala a.k.a. ‘Dr Mulatiwa’ out of their region by today.

The traditional healer was given marching orders on Sunday due to his practice of demanding that female patients should be naked when he treats them.

“Yes, Thursday he must be out of the Kavango Region,” the Chief confirmed yesterday.

It was reported recently that ‘Dr Mulatiwa’ – Mulatiwa being a Silozi word for darling or lover – commands women to be naked during treatment.

His practice apparently left the community fuming. The chief has ordered that he be sent back to the Caprivi Region where he hails from.

“We have never seen a traditional healer who heals women by undressing them,” a woman was quoted saying in a report by Nampa.

“The traditional healer’s practice of undressing women during treatment is morally and ethically wrong and unacceptable.”

Yesterday ‘Dr Mulatiwa’ said he was neither going to leave the Kavango Region nor pay the fines the Shambyu Traditional Authority ordered him to pay, since he was innocent.

“I am a Namibian, this is my country and I did not commit any crime in this country,” he said yesterday. “I am not in somebody’s village. I am in a municipal area. I have a lawyer and visited big people here who know the law and they said they cannot chase me out of Kavango.”

‘Dr Mulatiwa’ was fined N$3ǟ
