Chiefs and Sporting on the brink of relegation

Home Sports Chiefs and Sporting on the brink of relegation

Windhoek

MTC Premiership league rookies Young Chiefs eased their relegation worries with a well-deserved 1-0 triumph over fellow strugglers Rundu Chiefs in a relegation dogfight in the first of a double header at the Rundu Stadium on Saturday.
In the second match, United Stars walked away with the bragging rights by defeating a stubborn Julinho Sporting by a solitary goal, to all but secure their lodging in topflight football – come next season.
Last weekend’s defeats left both Chiefs and neighbours Sporting on the brink of making a quicker than expected return to the country’s second tier division.
The MTC Premiership-promoted Flamingoes are destined to accompany the two Rundu outfits to the lower division, with three of the bottom placed clubs making way for the regional winners.
As it stands, Young African and Chief Santos are likely to join already promoted Life Fighters to the elite league next season.
