Mbangula OSHAKATI A team delegated by the Chinese town of Yinchuan, the provincial capital of Ninjxia Hui, autonomous region in northwest China, is on a visit to the Omusati Region at the invitation of the Outapi Town Council. The two towns have entered into a twinning relationship that resulted in the exchanges of visits by the leaders of the respective local authorities. Announcing the visit of the delegation from the Peoples Republic of China, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Outapi, Oswin Namakalu, said the visitors have come to Namibia to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground and to strengthen existing relations between the two local authorities. A team from Outapi Town Council visitedChina in August 2005. During their visit, the Chinese delegation will meet various stakeholders in local, regional and traditional leadership capacities. They will also visit some key development projects in Omusati. Apart from meeting the Town Council of Outapi, they would also be having a meeting with the Governor of Omusati Region Sackey Kayone, Swapo Party Regional Coordinator Titus Kanyele, the business community and Chief Oswin Mukulu of the Ombalantu Traditional Authority. Projects on their itinerary include the Etaka Dam and a vegetable farm, the Etunda Irrigation Scheme, the NamPower electricity plant, and they will also pay a courtesy call on Chief Josia Shikongo Taapopi of Uukwaluudhi.
