A gang of unknown criminals allegedly robbed a 45-year-old Chinese national of items worth N$108 000, including cash, at Amonsoniet Street at Ombili in Katutura. A group of unknown suspects forced open the door to his house to gain entrance, then held the victim at knifepoint and robbed him of two laptops, three cellphones and cash. No recovery or arrest was made at the time of going to print, but police investigations continue.

A case of attempted murder was recorded at the Wanaheda Police Station after a 40-year-old undercover City Police Officer was shot in the right leg by four theft suspects at Werner List Street parking area, opposite Shoprite on Saturday, September 12 at about 02h30. The victim has not been named to protect his identity, but the suspects were arrested and were due to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

A suspect will make an appearance in the Katutura Magistrate Court today on a charge of murder. It is alleged that the suspect – who may not be named until he appears in court – stabbed 21-year-old Naftali Gariseb with a knife in the chest after a quarrel at Omuvapu Street in Babylon informal settlement thus killing him at about 02h00 on Sunday. Gariseb’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

A Zimbabwean was reportedly also robbed of a generator and extension cables, valued at N$25 000, by five unknown suspects at a construction site on Saturday, September 12 at an unknown time.

It is alleged that the suspects held the 35-year old Zimbabwean and other people at Erf 848, Santos Street in Rocky Crest, at gunpoint with a shotgun and told them not to move while they broke into containers before they fled in a White City Golf. No arrests or recovery have been made and police investigations continue.

In an unrelated incident a 27-year old man was held at gunpoint yesterday morning at about 04h00 at Hosea Kutako Street in the northern industrial area by three unknown suspects.

It is alleged that the complainant is a taxi driver, who was stopped by the suspects who asked to be taken to a nightclub. On the way one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him and pushed him out of the vehicle. He was allegedly robbed of his Toyota Corolla taxi and N450 in cash. No arrests or recovery were made and police investigations continue.
