WINDHOEK

A Khomasdal-based gospel choir, Youth with a Vision, on Saturday collected N$20 000 during a businessmen breakfast to produce its first hymn CD towards the end of this year.

YCV was established in July 2003 under the leadership of Floris Green, who also organized last Saturday’s fundraising effort, hosted by well known radio announcer, Riaan Cloete.

“We are very much delighted by the support in money and in kind the Namibian business fraternity contributed to our efforts in raising money to bring out our first CD since the choir was formed in 2003,” said founding member Floris Green.

According to Green the choir started off with 25 young, dedicated, vibrant Christian believers ranging between 16 and 25 years from different church denominations.

“Up to date we had three successful Birthdays praise and worship evenings;

as well as other fund raising events and small gospel evenings. On invitation we visited different denominations and ministered to them through our music. The main purpose for our breakfast was to encourage the businessmen to assist us in our projects by either sponsoring us or pledging an amount no matter how great or small the amount every single penny as appreciated and we believe by their help we can again help those that are less fortunate and needy,” Green said.

Companies that made financial contributions and pledges to the choir are:

Capital Press
Alarm Fix, Cadbury Springer Chocolade, Okarakovitha transport and tourism, Onjaba Enterprise, Albert Bezuidenhout, Windhoek Gutter supplies and AMG 24.

The choir’s programme for the rest of te year include:

– Ministering in Old Age Homes

– Ministering in Hospitals

– Working with sick and less fortunate children

– Outreaches to various towns in Namibia

– Raising Funds to assist the community

– Producing our own CD and DV with some of our own compositions

– Hosting our annual Birthday praise and worship

– Evening in the NTN this year

– Establishing a YCV center to assist the less fortunate, talented youngsters to Develop their abilities.
