OSHAKATI – In the 16th and 17th rounds of the Debmarine premiership on Saturday at Oshakati Independence Stadium, Eeshoke Chula Chula was forced to settle for a draw on home turf after a tight clash with Blue Waters.
Despite creating chances, Chula Chula could not secure a win, making it more draws than victory in the premiership so far, with 23 points from five wins, eight draws and three losses.
Chula Chula’s head coach John Sikerete said the players had plenty of chances, but couldn’t capitalise.
“We controlled possession well – but unfortunately, we lacked composure in front of goal,” he stated.
Sikerete added that going into the next game, the players understand what is expected of them.
“We are hoping to see the same level of support from our fans, regardless of Saturday’s results,” he added.
Blue Waters sit with 16 points, with only two wins, 10 draws and four losses.
Blue Waters’ head coach Paulus Shipanga remarked that the game was evenly contested, with both teams putting in strong performance and maintaining good possession.
“It was really anyone’s game. It came down to who would score first and seize the opportunity for victory,” he remarked.
Shipanga remained grounded that he has no specific expectations.
“We’ll be bringing back some of our top players who were on suspention (Alfred Levi and Arend Abubaki). We hope for a win, regardless,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, KK Palace kicked off their campaign with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Blue Boys, boosting their points’ tally to 20 with five wins, five draws and six losses.
On the other hand, Blue Boys remain stuck at 14 points after the defeat, with just two wins, eight draws and six losses so far this season.
The clubs were set to play again yesterday before going to print.
Chula Chula was set to square off against Blue Boys at 13h00, while KK Palace was scheduled to play Blue Water at 16h00 in another exciting tie at the venue.
