KATIMA MULILO – The councillor of Sibbinda Constituency Ignatius Chunga made a brief but hushed appearance before magistrate Jo-rina Jagger in the Katima Mulilo Regional Court yesterday, after his gun was used in a case of attempted murder involving his cattle herder from Zambia.
It is understood that Chunga gave his licensed gun to his 20-year-old Zambian cattle herder, Mike Njekwa, who in turn attempted to murder someone after a drinking spree.
Njekwa was arrested recently and appeared in court where he was denied bail. Chunga was however granted bail of N$2000, which he paid instantly and avoided spending a night behind bars. The politician and his cattle herder are expected to return to court on September 13.
In the seemingly hurried court appearance, Esther Jaffet appeared for the State.
