CIF’s Infrastructure Development Forum slated for Lüderitz

CIF’s Infrastructure Development Forum slated for Lüderitz

The registration deadline is fast approaching for the Infrastructure Development Forum organised by the Construction Industries Federation of Namibia (CIF).

It is scheduled for Lüderitz from 14 to 16 October 2025.

The forum is expected to offer a unique opportunity for contractors, small and medium enterprises, building material suppliers and financiers to gain upfront knowledge about upcoming infrastructure and development projects in Lüderitz and the wider //Kharas region.

“We are excited to play host at our conference centre to CIF Infrastructure Development Forum in the historical Old Power Station building. Lüderitz Waterfront continues to lead transformational initiatives, connecting private sector actors. This event is designed to allow contractors and SMEs to seize the emerging opportunities locally,” stated Fluksman Samuehl, CEO of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company.

To register, participants are requested to email the registration form and email it to the CIF before 7 October 2025.

Spaces are limited, hence early booking is strongly encouraged.

“We have already received great interest. We are keen to still get some more bookings in,” said Bärbel Kirchner, CIF’s CEO.

The forum is intended to equip businesses to prepare strategically, ensuring they are ready to participate in tenders and create partnerships as projects move forward.

CIF is hosting the forum at the Old Power Station Conference Centre collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company, the Lüderitz Town Council and FlyNamibia.

The forum is further supported by main sponsors, First National Bank, Standard Bank, Namibia Welding, Building and Civil Works, Africa Personnel Services, Namport, Peralin Paints and Neo Paints.

Additional support comes from Ohorongo Cement, Access Laboratory Services, NEC Energy, NEC Water & Pumps, Windhoek Hire and Sales Services, Dynamic Concrete and Pupkewitz Megabuild.

“The sponsor’s contributions, together with the collaboration of institutional partners, demonstrate the strong commitment to advancing Namibia’s construction sector,” said Kirchner.

She added that the three-day event will feature more than 35 high-profile speakers and panelists from government, State-owned enterprises and private sector companies.

The speakers are anticipated to share essential information about projects under their auspices, including details on timelines and procurement requirements.

Said Kirchner: “Remarkably, they have committed to providing their time free of charge while covering their own travel and accommodation expenses, which reflects their dedication to supporting the construction industry and development in Namibia”.  Collaboration between Namibian-owned contractors and SMEs is at the core of the event, with the programme including dedicated training opportunities for SMEs on the final day.

While designed with SMEs in mind, the training content will also provide valuable insights for all participants.

“The CIF Infrastructure Development Forum 2025 is not only about presenting upcoming economic opportunities but also about building capacity, strengthening collaboration and ensuring that Namibia’s construction sector is prepared for the demands of the future,” Kirchner added.

“The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is proud to announce its cooperation with the Construction Industry Federation and other key partners to host the upcoming CIF Infrastructure Development Forum 2025. We believe that infrastructure development, fair procurement, networking and SME participation are critical for Namibia’s economic growth and inclusive prosperity,” stated Anna Hoffman-Kwanga, country director for the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Office, Namibia and Angola.

Head of business and commercial banking at Standard Bank Hellen Amupolo noted that the forum allows for deeper engagements between infrastructure industry players.

It elevates the significance of the infrastructure sector as an anchor to emerging industries such as oil and gas and green hydrogen within the //Karas region.

“Standard Bank Namibia provides various trade finance solutions which are uniquely poised for the sector, enabling contractors and developers within the ecosystem to drive Namibia’s growth,” Amupolo stated.

“FNB is proud to support the CIF Infrastructure Development Forum as a strategic partner in Namibia’s growth journey. Through our Commercial Property Finance solutions, we enable developers, investors and business owners to unlock value and build for the future.  With Lüderitz poised for transformation, we are ready to help businesses seize the moment,” commented Franco Labuschagne, specialised finance lending head at FNB Namibia. -ebrandt@nepc.com.na
