City, PowerCom sign agreement

City of Windhoek and PowerCom on Tuesday signed an agreement, marking a partnership on transforming Windhoek into a smart, inclusive and sustainable city by 2027.

Speaking at the ceremony, City mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja highlighted the significance of the agreement and the valuable contribution PowerCom is expected to make.

“PowerCom’s involvement in community initiatives, such as supporting the City of Windhoek, reflects a holistic approach to development that goes beyond technology. It strengthens social cohesion and safety, which are critical pillars for a thriving city,” Larandja said.

Signing on behalf of PowerCom, its CEO Beatus Amadhila added that the collaboration is aimed at taking collective action to make Windhoek a safer city.

“Through this strategic partnership, we are proud to support the installation of CCTV cameras at selected higher-risk and strategic areas around the city, leveraging our network of town infrastructure to give law enforcement a vital technological edge in the fight against crime amongst us,” Amadhila said.

Amadhila further said that PowerCom will donate 20 CCTV cameras as of 01 October 2025. -Nampa
