WINDHOEK – The University of Namibia (Unam) were the chief beneficiaries of the Central Netball Zone awards at a glittering awards ceremony in Windhoek last weekend.
The Clever Girls scooped a couple of accolades that included the shield accompanied by an amount of N$1 000 in cash for finishing top of the Central Netball Zone League (CNZ) division one and a combined N$600 for claiming the runner-up spot in both the second and third division leagues.
Khomasdal outfit Civics received a consolation prize of N$700 for their second placed finish, while Aunt Ricky’s Babes (Black Africa) finished a disappointing third by their own standards and walked away with a paltry N$300 for their troubles.
Former champions African Stars who have since dropped a division down, claimed the second division crown and were rewarded with N$1 000 – leaving traditional rivals Black Africa to pick up the pieces for 2nd place. Wanderers White Mares scooped top honours in division three and received N$1 000.
