WINDHOEK- ‘Comedy in The House’ the now regular comedy series every last Friday of the month at the Hilton Hotel’s Kalabar continues tonight.
This features some ‘big guns’ from within the eclectic comedy scene of the capital. ‘Comedy in the House’ combines stand-up humour with house music presented by DJ Mzo. With more than 70 comedy performances under his belt, Joe White is definitely one of the country’s top entertainers. He represented Namibia twice at the World Championship of the Performing Arts 2012 and 2013 in Los Angeles in the United States of America (USA). As one of few ‘white’ comedians, he is constantly and adamantly on a mission to promote what he calls rare species in Namibia.
Then there is, of course, Taap the Guy – remember, the one who inspired Lifa, performer at the previous CitH – who claims that he was born a baby, grew up with all the right things at the right places and today (still) is the youngest comedian on the Namibian stage.
Completing this week’s trio is an ‘import’ from Bulgaria, Alex Madjarov, a newcomer who joined the comic craze earlier this year. Alex names the American comedians Louis C.K. and the late George Carlin as well as the British stand-up comic, Eddie Izzard amongst his peers. Expect a satirical look at politics, the peoples of Namibia and their interrelation with one another. The principle of ‘no holds barred’ is being applied throughout and the term ‘political correctness’ does not exist in the vocabulary of these artists.
‘Comedy in the House’ is a project by Ondjila Y’Ondjaba Concert Agency in collaboration with Free Your Mind. The show starts at 20h00 and the GOOD NEWS is that it is free of charge.
