WINDHOEK – The eagerly awaited Bank Windhoek Namibian Bass Angling Association (NBAA) competition proved a huge success at the Oanob dam as conditions made it difficult for anglers to catch any big fish.
Despite boasting a massive number of big fish, the Oanob dam once again lived up to its reputation of not being an easy haunt to catch large fish during the well attended competition held earlier this month at Lake Oanob Resort, near Rehoboth.
The dam level was very low and good fishing spots were far and few between, making it extremely difficult for the day’s participants. However, one angler who had the dam figured out was Namibian angler Richard Grant, but even he only managed four fish.
The biggest bass was caught by Neil Engelbrecht, weighing a decent 3.41 kg. Sonita Pienaar won the ladies section and she was the only lady to weigh any fish with a total points of 2,877.
The top ten results for the day were:
1. Richard Grant – 7,454 points
2. Neil Engelbrecht – 7,140 points
3. JP Judeel – 6,350 points
4. Thinus Williams – 3,973 points
5. Duan kotze – 3,903 points
6. Alec Williams – 3,891 points
7. Andre Nortje – 3,867 points
8. Okkie Oosthuisen – 3,697 points
9. Andre van Vuuren – 3,559 points
10. Max Pieper – 3,264 points
