There is progress with the several constituency offices being constructed in Kavango West region where two are in their final stages of construction.
Contractors are putting the final touches to some of the offices while the Mpungu constituency office block has already been completed.
This was said by Joseph Sivaku, the chairperson of Kavango West Regional Council who is also the councillor for Tondoro constituency.
“The problem we have is the construction of the offices of Mankupi constituency – the contractor abandoned the site after failing to start the actual work. We are still very far – we took the tender away from the first contractor because there was no progress and we gave it to another contractor,” Sivaku told New Era.
The office for Joseph Sivaku in Tondoro constituency is being constructed at Mburuuru village and it is reported to be in the final stages of construction, and for Johannes Kahonzo of Ncamagoro constituency the office is being built at Ncamagoro village along the Rundu-Grootfontein road. For Lucas Muha of Mankupi constituency the office is said to be behind schedule as the contractor failed to start with construction and it will be completed next year.
Johannes Karondo of Kapako constituency, Rosa Kavara of Ncuncuni constituency together with Damian Nakambare for Nkurenkuru constituency are using the old structures, plus Sakeus Kudumo of Musese.
Currently the councillors that are yet to receive their offices are sharing offices with other constituencies that have these facilities at Nkurenkuru, Kapako and Ncuncuni.
