By Sbu Mjikeliso Windhoek Convicted paedophile, Abraham Roux, has committed suicide. He apparently shot himself at his Gobabis farm home on Saturday evening. “It is confirmed that he (Roux) has committed suicide. It happened Saturday evening between the times of four and five o’clock,” officer James Matengu from the Windhoek police department affirmed. Roux was convicted of four counts of soliciting and enticing children under the age of 16 years to commit sexual acts. The 71-year-old was arrested in 2004 on 10 charges of child sex. He initially denied all charges but later confessed to six of them. Roux was on the brink of his sentencing and was out on a N$20 000 bail. ” Mr Roux was supposed to appear in court for his sentencing today (yesterday),” Roux’s defence attorney, Louis Du Pisani confirmed.
