WINDHOEK – A 36-year-old man who pleaded guilty to stealing two pieces of raw meat was sentenced to pay a fine of N$300.
Alternatively he faces the prospect of spending 30 days in jail.
The convict, Nukwao Dio John pleaded guilty to the charge of theft before Magistrate Ingrid Unengu just over a week ago.
He told the magistrate that he stole the meat valued at N$71.98 from Pick n Pay since he is unemployed and has two kids aged 6 and 10 years old.
He asked the court not to sentence him too severely, since he needs to take care of his kids.
