WALVIS BAY – The Namibian Police in Erongo are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 24-year-old man on Friday evening.

Detective Inspector Erastus Iikuyu said a motor vehicle accident occurred on the B2 road between Swakopmund and Arandis, about 12 kilometres from Swakopmund at the site where the road is currently under construction.

Iikuyu said the deceased, who was identified as Romeo Uirab, was an occupant in a car with three others including the driver, Erenst Doeseb, who lost control thus causing the vehicle to overturn.

The deceased was taken to the Swakopmund state hospital where he later died from his injuries. The other three are said to be in a stable condition although they are quite seriously injured.

Iikuyu also said the police were still searching for a suspect who allegedly murdered 27-year-old Steven Eixab last week in Swakopmund.

The suspect is accused of murdering his roommate Eixab the previous Saturday in Mondesa, close to the Vrede Rede School.

The suspect allegedly stabbed  27-year-old Eixab to death after they returned from a drinking spree in Mondesa in the evening.

Iikuyu said the two, who were accompanied by a friend, shared  a room  and argued about food upon returning from the shebeen, which resulted in the stabbing of Eixab.

“We believe the suspect might have skipped town but we are following up all possible leads to trace him,” Iikuyu said.
