WINDHOEK – The Windhoek Golf Country Club (WGCC) played host to the successful hosting of the popular annual Kit Group Federation Pairs tournament last weekend.

With 106 golfers in total teeing off, the tourney once again showed itself as a favourite for many and despite the severity of the rough, due to good rains, all participants had some fun.

After two days of betterball, foursomes and combined competitions, the pair of Stephanus Bonafatius and Graeme Fransman won the best gross with a score of 289, while the best nett pair was the combination of former footballers Bertus Damon and George Gariseb with 274.

The runner-up accolades in the gross division went to Francois Hanekom and Christie de Wet with a total of 292, while John Zhang and former Brave Warriors striker Joseph ‘Draaitjies’ Martin were the nett runners-up with 276.

In the third position overall on gross were Hafeni Nghinawaami and Elias Mulombwelwa on 301, followed by Corneels Jafta and Gustaf Fransman with a total of 279.

The next Namibia Golf Union event is the Sperrgebiet Open that is scheduled for the weekend of March 15-16, 2014.
