The weekend crime report is predominantly marked by incidences of attempted murder, suicide, inquest, robbery, drugs, housebreaking and theft.
Here is the summary:
Suicide
Police reported several suicide cases over the weekend. At Onheleiwa village in Etayi constituency, a 35-year-old man was found hanging from a roof and reportedly left a suicide note. Another 41-year-old man allegedly hanged himself at Okahenene-Oshaango village, while a 55-year-old Angolan national was found hanging after committing suicide at Egolo village, Okankolo constituency.
Attempted murder
A 25-year-old male was injured after he was allegedly struck by a bullet in the shoulder, in Kuisebmund. It is alleged that shots were fired at the car he was driving, which reportedly matched a wanted vehicle that fled during a police chase.
A 24-year-old female suspect was arrested after she allegedly threw her nine-month-old twins into a water pond at Omutundungu Village, Etayi constituency. It is reported that the twins were rescued by a teenage boy who witnessed the incident.
Housebreaking
On Friday in Pioneerspark, suspects allegedly jumped over a wall, broke a burglary window, entered a house and stole household items valued at over N$30 000.
Four unknown suspects allegedly broke into the home of an elderly couple while they were asleep. The victims were tied up and robbed of firearms, jewellery, mobile devices, cash and other personal items.
Inquest
The body of a 69-year-old male was discovered in a shallow water pond by community members on Friday at Epyenene village in Okatana Constituency. On Friday, the body of a 31-year-old male was found floating near the Noordoewer border post. The victim is suspected of operating a capsized canoe.
Robbery
On Friday, at around 13h30 in OK Eenhana, suspects allegedly used an unknown object to enter a vehicle and stole cosmetic items worth over N$100 000.
A truck driver transporting fish cargo was attacked after parking to rest about 30 km from Karibib towards Okahandja. Suspects allegedly stabbed and tied up the victim, stole his cellphone and fish cargo and fled.
A woman was robbed of her cellphone by two armed male suspects who fled in a green Mazda Demio.
In another incident, a mother and her two children were attacked by three suspects who robbed them off their phones and a handbag in Klein Windhoek. The woman suffered a broken finger, and her son sustained a knife wound.
Culpable homicide
It is alleged that a head-on collision occurred between a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Polo after the driver of the Polo made a sudden right turn directly into the path of the oncoming Land Cruiser. As a result, two passengers aged 11 and 30 succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while other passengers sustained injuries.
A female passenger died upon arriving at Mpungu Clinic while others sustained injuries when the car she was travelling in allegedly overturned after the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and lost control.
Drugs
At Mondesa, a 23-year-old male was arrested for possession of skunk cannabis during a police stop and search on Friday. Again, on Friday in Kuisebmund, a 25-year-old male was arrested for possession of skunk cannabis.
In a similar incident in Mondesa, a 29-year-old male was arrested after being found in possession of mandrax tablets.
On Friday, a 17-year-old male was arrested after he was found in possession of cannabis and mandrax during a police search.
