WINDHOEK- Speaking at a brief press conference at Soccer House yesterday, African Stars skipper Pat-Nevin Uanivi entertained no thoughts of losing their grip on the Bidvest Namibia Cup trophy and assured Stars fans the team will retain the trophy when they confront Citizens FC in tomorrow’s final at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

A highly confident Uanivi said they have worked hard and are well prepared for Saturday’s final. “We will retain the Bidvest Cup come Saturday, the boys are ready and know what do to win the match. We respect Citizens as a team, because they too worked hard to reach the final, it was not by luck. That achievement proves they are not an easy team and we will not taken them lightly,” Uanivi said. On the other end of the table Citizens captain Robert Gurirab once again made it crystal clear that although they have respect for Stars, as one of Namibia’s biggest football clubs, they do not fear them one bit. According to him his charges will join the battle with determination and with the aim of winning the Bidvest Cup. “We know the quality of Stars and the kind of players they have, but this is a cup final and we are ready and well prepared for whatever surprises they might have for us. We are also aware of the intimidation Stars fans and we have a plan for them too. After the full 90 minutes, Stars fans will join Citizens because we will give them a good reason to do so,” Gurirab said. Bidvest Namibia has also upped the stakes in the Bidvest Namibia Cup final by offering five people the chance to win N$1000 each as part of the “selfie competition according to Theo Mberirua, Director Commercial & Business Development of Bidvest Namibia. “Take a fun and creative selfie at the finals on June 7, 2014 wearing Bidvest Namibia Cup regalia and ‘whatsapp’ the selfie to 0816923997. Judges will then choose five winners and each one will receive N$ 1000,” he said.

As for this year, Bidvest Namibia will spoil the first 3000 fans with free gifts and there will also be a lucky draw where one spectator could win a trip for 2 to attend any Bidvest Wits fixture in the South African premiership. Tickets are available at Computicket outlets at all Shoprite/Checkers stores countrywide for N$30 each and no tickets will be sold at the gates.
