It is either you have dealt with it or still dealing with it. Dating an ordinary person for an entertainer can be very difficult. It goes both ways. For now, let me address it from an entertainer’s perspective.
Your ordinary person will not understand the importance of taking pictures. Your ordinary person will rather get annoyed at their entertainer partner for trying to snap up every moment. Your ordinary person will not understand the importance of consistently updating their social media. Your ordinary person will feel that you give more attention to your online presence as oppose to your relationship.
Your ordinary person will not understand the importance of a fan to your brand. Fans being fans, fans will always find a way to get you to recognise their allegiance to your art. It is during this process which commonly involves either a selfie with you once they run into you or commenting and liking all on/all your posts on social media. This in turn will absolutely annoy your ordinary person. Fans that in some instances might even have a crush on you will look to graduate from being a fan to a groupie. It happens. Your ordinary person will….well…explode! The elai thing about the last factor is, you can’t really push away or block off that type of fan. Every fan matters. Even the ill-intended fans. They could’ve followed any other brand but they chose to follow your brand. Your ordinary person…will NEVER understand that. Ae jirre, waarso?
If you are in a position to avoid getting romantically involved with an entertainer, USE IT! DON’T GET INVOLVED WITH US! Entertainers are moody! Entertainers are unpredictable! Entertainers get depressed pretty quickly. Entertainers are very fussy! So why would you want to get involved with an entertainer?
Let us flip the coin and address this from someone ordinary’s perspective. Does your entertainer always struggle to reply to your texts during the day but whenever you are with them…they are always on their phones? #ChestPains. Does your entertainer person cancel a special occasion with you because they got a last minute gig? #ChestPains. And what does your entertainer person huka mean with “Im in studio” or “I was in studio”?! So what? I want to talk to my person, right? Kama, “I was on air”….um ok? So? Lol. #ChestPains. Or or or (this one is the worse) when they fail to reply or pick up your call but you see them updating their social media. Like etse…?!? #ChestPainsFam.
But oh well, you are in love…what can you do right? The first step towards a stress free relationship is for both of you to accept the reality. Entertainer, accept that your person does not understand your studio stories. Ordinary Person, understand that your entertainer person does not know how to be ordinary. That is why you have each other. To teach each other. Communication is vital in a relationship of this nature. Contextualize every move to each other. Easy said than done neh? Try it. Accept, communicate and contextualize.
