RUNDU – An inquest was opened by the Kavango West police after the lifeless and unidentified body of an adult male was found floating off the banks of the Kavango river at Sigone village in Kavango West on Saturday morning.
According to the police, it appeared that the deceased died approximately four days ago.
“The deceased’s remains were transported to Rundu state hospital mortuary pending an autopsy and possible identification,” read the police report.
In a separate incident, the police in Kavango West are investigating a hit-and-run after a woman was struck by a car driven by a yet to be identified driver. The victim who sustained injuries was allegedly seated in the road when the incident took place.
According to the police bulletin, the accident happened on Saturday night at 22h00 at Tondoro.
The victim was identified as Kampanza Magdalena. “The driver allegedly stopped to ascertain the injuries, but made a U-turn and drove away without rendering assistance to the victim. The victim was transported to Nankudu state hospital for medical attention and her condition was reported to be stable,” said the police report. No arrest has been made yet, while police investigations continue.
