WINDHOEK – Following the successful conclusion of the TN Mobile CAF Women’s Championship in Windhoek on Saturday, Namibia Football Association (NFA) President, John Muinjo, is strongly convinced that Namibia has succeeded in delivering what they promised to Africa – a memorable edition of the women’s championship.
Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday, he said: “We have made a huge statement as a country and as a football fraternity. We promised the whole of Africa that we will stage a successful competition and I can proudly say Namibia has delivered on that promise. In fact, we have over-delivered!” said a highly delighted Muinjo.
“Just yesterday (Sunday) I had a brief meeting with CAF President Issa Hayatou and he too could not heap enough praise on the Namibian Government and the NFA as a football association for staging an impressive and incident-free tournament. He also encouraged Namibia to consider staging similar events in the future, be it the U/17 or 20 competitions.”
Muinjo added that they will make sure that whatever skills, systems and lines of protocol learned during the championship will be redirected to various local football structures, especially the professionalism in organising local competitions and the league.
