The Deutsche Höhere Privatschule (DHPS) in Windhoek welcomed curious visitors, parents, and interested parties to its annual Open Day on Saturday. The event showcased the school’s diverse offerings, ranging from kindergarten to the DHPS support centre and open orchestra rehearsals.
Attendees were treated to insights into various subject departments and got a taste of judo practice.
The DHPS Expo provided a comprehensive look behind the scenes of Namibia’s only German School. From informative school tours led by management and administrative representatives to engaging exhibitions, visitors had ample opportunities to learn about the school’s distinctive features and offerings.
According to the press statement issued by the DHPS, one highlight of the event was the presentation of the DHPS kindergarten, caring for children as young as three months.
“The departments provided information about their subjects and teaching methods – whether in the literature café or by introducing the German language diploma, with “explosive” science experiments, pondering at the math Olympiad or with French culinary delicacies. In addition to that, the school tours provided valuable insights into the state-of-the-art science laboratories and classrooms, the sports hall, the library, the DHPS support centre and the varied and diverse school life,” the statement reads.
Moreover, visitors gained insights into the pre-school, afternoon care services at the DHPS Child and Youth Centre, and the school’s boarding facilities. –priscillamukokobi@gmail.com
