DJ Siya’s Bovo hits one-million views

The Namibian music industry is showing strong signs of revival, with local artists breaking into the digital mainstream area.

Over the weekend, musician and producer DJ Siya reached a milestone as his hit single Bovo, featuring DJ Vuyo and Zambian artist Chester MorePower, passed one-million views on YouTube.

The song has quickly gained traction across Southern Africa and beyond. The music video, praised for its visuals and cultural richness, was filmed at several iconic locations in Botswana, including Kasane, Chobe Safari Lodge, Mari Gold Hotel and Likute Lodge.

In a statement shared on social media, DJ Siya expressed gratitude for the support.

“BOVO –1 MILLION VIEWS! I’m beyond grateful to each of you for making this milestone happen,” he wrote. “A huge shoutout to my brothers DJ Vuyo, Chester MorePower and Rich Pro Beats for their incredible collaboration.”

He also extended thanks to the production crew behind the music video, including Dion of Aula Films, Frams David, Bingo Creative Studio and Olavi, among others.

“To everyone who watched and shared the link, thank you. We couldn’t have done it without your support,” he beamed.

The track’s growing popularity marks a significant achievement not only for DJ Siya, but also for the broader regional music community. As traditional live performances face ongoing challenges, digital platforms such as YouTube have become essential for artists seeking exposure and success.

Not so long ago, rapper Lioness’ song hit a million views. Gazza and Ms Gideon also hit a million.
