The John Shaetonhodi Combined School in Ohangwena Region was blessed with a donation of five computers and one printer worth N$40 000 from Camoposatu Investments on Tuesday.
In addition, the school received five boxes of printing paper from Shaetonhodi Optometrist.
Speaking on behalf of Camoposatu the chairperson of the board of directors, Nico Kaiyamo, said the donation is a contribution towards Vision 2030, adding that the vision can only be attained with educated human capital.
“We hope the donation will go a long way in enhancing the school learning environment,” said Kaiyamo.
Kaiyamo said education should not be left to government alone but that it should rather be a shared responsibility where those who have share with those that are less privileged.
Speaking at the handover, the councillor of Ongenga Constituency Sakaria Haimudi said the donation is a step in the right direction towards Vision 2030, where every citizen will be required to know basic computer skills and use the internet.
He appealed to education stakeholders to create platforms to strategise how to improve results at schools.
He further appealed to the school to use the donation to be-nefit the school.
“Let us use this donation wisely, for the benefit of everybody and sustain the resources at the school,” Haimudi urged.
John Shaetonhodi Combined School was established in 2006 with three teachers, including the principal, and 71 learners in grades one and two.
At the time the school operated in two shacks donated by the parents, while the principal operated from under a tree for about two years before government built a block of classrooms.
To date the school has expanded tremendously to 379 learners, 14 teachers and a number of classrooms.
