WINDHOEK

Rain or no rain, come hell or high water, Ramblers have promised to finish the job when the Tunchel Street boys welcome back Cymot Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) in their rescheduled MTC Namibia Premier League first round match at the Ramblers field this Sunday (16h00).

The match was abandoned halfway through the first half last Sunday with 2nd placed Ramblers firmly in the driving seat – having taken a two-goal cushion within the opening 25 minutes and looking set to end the Germans’ unbeaten streak in the league this season until the timely intervention of nature.

It’s a completely different ball game this time around and coach Richard Starke is confident his boys will not repeat the same mistakes again that led to their opponents paying frequent visits to their danger zone.

“We conceded silly goals and were definitely not in it during the first 20 minutes or so, but take nothing away from Ramblers, they are a very composed side but their first goal was miles offside,” charged the spoken mentor.

Cymot SKW welcome back inspirational captain Marco van Wyk who was laid low by flu last weekend while veteran goalkeeper Heribert Kapeng is likely to reclaim his place between the sticks after the agile net-minder missed last weekend’s ill-fated clash through a hamstring injury with the butterfingered Sven Wiedenrothe returning to the reserve bench.

Coaches Dove Fransman and Tollie van Wyk, both defenders with the Pionierspark-based outfit in their heyday, will be spoiled for choice with league leading goal scorer Pineas Jacobs and utility defender Donnelly Nell both back in contention for a place in the starting lineup.

The pair missed last weekend’s crucial derby through an assortment of injuries, but might have to wait a little longer on the sidelines before reclaiming their places in the starting lineup if the five-star showing of their replacements Gerry Keister and Bernadine Mbilizi is anything to go by.

The Ramblers technical staff would be better advised not to tamper with a winning combination, so Van Wyk and Fransman might be tempted to stick with the same lineup that ran riot in the abbreviated rain-soaked clash against the log leaders.
