WINDHOEK – The Duke of Cambridge Prince William is set to make his first visit to Namibia, on 24th and 25th September, as part of his trip to Africa ahead of the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference to be held in London on 11th and 12th October 2018.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen international partnerships across borders and beyond government and focus on 3 key themes: tackling illegal wildlife trade as an organised crime; building coalitions and closing markets, Kensington Palace announced late yesterday.
This will be the first official visit of a member of the British Royal Family since the visit of Her Majesty The Queen in 1991. During his visit, The Duke of Cambridge will meet with His Excellency Vice President Dr Nangolo Mbumba. His Royal Highness will also attend an event to celebrate UK-Namibia relations at the Residence of the British High Commissioner to Namibia, Kate Airey, where he will meet key figures working in conservation, business and industry leaders, representatives of the youth and mental health activists from Namibia.
The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) is the second in line to the throne and the elder son of The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales.
His Royal Highness is married to The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, with whom he has three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family’s official residence is Kensington Palace.
His Royal Highness undertakes a number of charitable activities and projects and carries out public and official duties in support of The Queen, in the UK and overseas.
