WINDHOEK – Employees of Dundee Precious Metals in Tsumeb spent time with the 40 residents of Nomtsoub Old Age Home and Maroela Park Retirement Home in Tsumeb as part of their Christmas spirit of giving to the community. The employees provided foot scrubs and pedicures, distributed food hampers and toiletry gift bags, and spent quality time with the residents throughout the morning of Sunday December 14. The elderly were also served a light lunch.
Further, Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb, which operates the Tsumeb smelter, donated a six-burner gas stove to the Nomtsoub Old Age Home, which is the home of 27 pensioners hailing from Tsumeb and other communities around Namibia.
“Since Dundee is part of the community, we wanted to reach out to that segment that is often pushed to the margins, namely the elderly. We wanted our elders to know that we appreciate all the things they have done in their lives and all the contributions they made for everyone’s benefit over the years, as well as for the wisdom they accrued from a long life of experience and sharing with others,” said the company’s Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Mutota.
