‘Operation Omake’ – as the law enforcement campaign launched by President Hage Geingob is known – received support from Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb, who came on board on June 2016 with donations of approximately 1000 water bottles to the campaign.
The bottled mineral water was donated towards the initiative as part of a collaborative effort and partnership with local law enforcement. The nationwide initiative was launched by the President Geingob to intensify crime prevention initiatives and public safety operations, following a spike in violent crimes.
Geingob’s resolve to curb the rise in crimes, such as rape, murder, gender-based violence and armed robbery, is in accordance with the Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP). Pillar 3 of the HPP aims to improve service delivery and facilitate sustainable development.
“Operation Omake is nationwide. All regional police offices were tasked with approaching stakeholders for assistance and donations in kind. The campaign’s bid is to combat crime within every respective community across the country.
“Dundee is always passionate about community investment and is always willing to assist wherever possible,” said Oshikoto Deputy Police Commissioner Petrus Shighwedha.
In response to Geingob’s Omake directive to law enforcement agencies to reduce the rising crime rates Operation Omake was launched in Oshikoto Region on March 2.
For improved service delivery, the operation extended into the month of June, redoubling efforts to root out traces of criminality that have been eating away at social fabric.
