Ees and Jakkie Louw to feature at BW challenge relay

Home Lifestyle Ees and Jakkie Louw to feature at BW challenge relay

WINDHOEK

Popular Namibian artist and kwaito singer Ees and South African artist Jakkie Louw have been confirmed as the main musical acts at this year’s Bank Windhoek Corporate Challenge Relay on July 30 in Windhoek.

The Bank Windhoek Corporate Challenge Relay is held annually and seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle among citizens. Anyone can enter a team of four members to compete in the men’s, women’s, mixed and school categories. This year’s event takes place at the Doc Jubber hockey fields from 14:00 to 18:00. All funds raised will go to various welfare organisations in the country.

From Namibia to South Africa to Germany, Eric Sell, aka Ees, is moving up in the world and at a rapid pace. With nine CDs under his belt in just eight years, he has no plans of slowing down. His music style is a blend of kwaito, African house, afro pop and reggae, with a funky fresh spin.

Ees was born and bred in Namibia and started to slowly get into the music business in 2001, creating his unique African vocal singing style.

Jakkie, a songwriter and singer, was born in Oudtshoorn, South Africa and has had major chart hits such as Drie Pikkewyne, Bamboesbos, Gemaak in SA, Voshaarnooi, Hoendersong and Een miljoen woorde. “This year the Bank Windhoek Corporate Challenge Relay will focus on the family with entertainment for young and old. For the children there will be jumping castles and other fun activities such as a cycling course that will be coordinated by T-Rex Triathlon Training Tribe. There will also be music and various food stalls, with Ees and Jakkie Louw as the headline acts after the prize-giving,” says Sanet de Waal, Communication Practitioner at Bank Windhoek.

The day’s entertainment is exclusively for participants and their families and members of the public will not be able to attend the shows. The relay will consist of a 20km walk or run and each team member will walk or run for 5km on a route around the sports fields in Olympia.

The entry fee is N$400 for corporate companies and individual groups and N$200 for school teams.
Teams are welcome to set up their own hospitality sites where they can relax and socialise with team members and other companies.
Food will be sold at the venue and teams can order braai packs to braai, or they can order braai packs to be prepared by caterers at the event. Orders for braai packs can be submitted along with entry forms.

Entry forms are available from Bank Windhoek branches or can be downloaded from the Bank Windhoek website at www.bankwindhoek.com.na. The closing date for entries is July 22.
