The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) has approved 26 institutional grants totaling more
than N$3.7 million, benefiting individuals and institutions across priority sectors nationwide.
Of the approved grants, eight projects are youth-led, and 11 are led by women.
EIF spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said the funding supports a wide range of beneficiaries and interventions.
“The funding supports a diverse cohort of beneficiaries and interventions, demonstrating EIF’s balanced approach to equitable access, institutional strengthening, and value for money,” Muyunda said.
He added that EIF has committed about N$5 million under the Institutional Grants Facility for the 2025/26 financial year.
“These grants are intended to strengthen vulnerable livelihoods, enhance climate change adaptation, promote the sustainable use of natural resources, and support nature-based entrepreneurship,” he said.
The approved grants include 12 start-up projects and 14 existing projects. He explained that the Memorandum of Understanding with grant recipients is currently being signed.
“This process ensures effective coordination, accountability, and sound implementation of the projects,” he said.
EIF has also made efforts to ensure that all regions receive an average of two funded projects, in line with our commitment to equitable development.
He noted that the final selection process will continue until the full N$5 million allocation is reached, after which all beneficiaries will be announced.
The EIF reaffirms its commitment to transparent, accountable, and impact-driven grant management, recognising institutional grants as a critical investment in Namibia’s long-term capacity to address environmental, climate, and sustainable development priorities.
The EIF will continue to monitor grant performance, provide technical support as needed, and ensure that approved funding delivers tangible institutional and developmental outcomes for the benefit of all Namibians.
