!Nami#Nus Constituency Office, through the //Karas Regional Council, recently donated maize, meal, rice, soap and other essentials to 200 elderly and vulnerable people.
The food and other goods were distributed to the elders by Jan Scholtz the regional councillor for !Nami#Nus Constituency.
All the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the food and other gifts handed to them as Christmas presents at an event graced by Brigitte Fredericks, the deputy mayor of Lüderitz.
“I’m very happy the constituency office can provide this much-needed assistance to those most in need this holiday season,” said Scholtz.
Fredericks said people are struggling to feed their families and as leaders they were duty-bound to provide the assistance needed by the elderly and vulnerable.
She further indicated that it is their duty to make sure that they comply with the President Geigob’s call that “no one should feel left out.”
Some of the people received the gifts at the regional council’s office, while the rest of the goods were distributed among the community by constituency officers.
One of the recipients, Hileni Naftali, who serves as the chairperson of Catholic Aids Action in Lüderitz, was very thankful for the gifts. She thanked the leaders of the community who made the donation possible.
