RUNDU – On Friday at Kahanga, a village in the Mukwe constituency an elephant attacked two male victims, trampling one to death, while the other managed to escape the beast.

It was reported that the two men, Karupu Thindimba and Muyenga Shamwaka, were on their way home from a bar at around 20h15 on Friday night and decided to take a shortcut home through a dense thicket when they came across the elephant. The beast charged them and unfortunately trampled to death one of the two men.

Thindimba managed to escape the beast and ran to inform the family. The 24-year-old Shamwaka was from Kahanga, a village in the Mukwe constituency in the far Kavango East Region. Also, accoding to the police last week Thusday at around 18h00 in the evening at Mutwegombahe, a village in the Kavango East Region a 22-year-old man was stabbed with a knife three times in the abdomen leaving him in a critical condition. It is said the incident happened after the victim who was identified as Mathias Haufiku had an argument with the suspect about a horse the suspect borrowed and returned much later then the agreed upon time. The victim was seriously injured and is now fighting for his life in the Rundu State Hospital where he was rushed. The suspect who is only know as ‘Shike’ is still at large. A 58-year-old woman was also raped last week Monday by a 28-year-old man at Satotwa, a village situated west of Rundu. It is believed the suspect stopped the victim who was on her way home from a nearby shebeen during the night  and assaulted and threatened to kill her before he raped her.
