Police in Omuthiya opened an inquest docket after an 11-year-old boy reportedly hanged himself with a rope from a tree.

The deceased is Andreas Kalumbu and his next of kin have been informed. The incident happened at 11h00 at Okashanakelago village in the Omuthiya area.

A five months pregnant Angolan national, 27, was allegedly raped on Friday at Onkekwaya West in Ohangwena Region.

“It is alleged the suspect went to the victim’s house, entered the victim’s bedroom and then forcefully had sexually intercourse with her,” stated police spokesperson Inspector Slogan Matheus. Matheus said the suspect fled the scene and was still at large. Police investigations continue. A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men on Friday at Oshakati. The two suspects are aged 24 and 26 years, respectively.

Matheus said the victim was travelling from her village to meet her boyfriend at Okatana service station in Oshakati. He said upon the victim arriving there and while busy on her cellphone to call her boyfriend, one of the suspects who later raped her, grabbed her cellphone and walked away.

“She followed the suspect who walked until a friend’s place. The suspect entered the room and the victim entered the room demanding her cellphone back. The suspect then grabbed the victim and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The suspect left the victim in the room and the second suspect, who is the owner of the room, entered and also had sexual intercourse with the victim,” said Matheus. In Oshikoto Region, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped last week by a 20-year-old man who is her half-brother. Matheus said the suspect found the victim in her room, threatened to beat her with a stick and allegedly had sexual intercourse with the minor.

He added the suspects in both cases were arrested and were due to appear in court yesterday.
